Answers

What is an Atlas Orthogonist?

An Atlas Orthogonist is a doctor of chiropractic with board certification in the Atlas Orthogonal Technique.

Does an atlas adjustment hurt?

No.  We utilize the Atlas Orthogonal Technique and the Activator Methods Techique because of their gentle nature. Many patients comment about how much this pleases them. The precision and speed of the instruments have taken chiropractic to a higher level of patient satisfaction.

What are possible signs and symptoms of the vertebral subluxation complex?

In addition to spinal pain of the neck and back, headache, arm and leg numbness or tingling, sciatica, balance issues, leg length inequality, dizziness or vertigo, spinal osteoarthritis, chronic fatigue and weakness are all common.

How long until I feel better?

Chiropractic care has helped millions of people get well and stay well. We have chosen state of the art techniques to maximize results as quickly as possible. Typically, people will recognize improvements during the first couple weeks of their care. Those with more chronic conditions may take longer. Some feel relief soon after the first treatment.

How does chiropractic work?

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is the master coordinator of all bodily functions. Your nervous system is protected by the skull and 24 moveable bones of the spine. Abnormal position of spinal bones results in nervous system dysfunction, spinal decay and ill health. The chiropractic approach to better health is to detect, reduce and help prevent nervous system dysfunction.

Can I have chiropractic care even if I’ve had back surgery?

Yes. In fact, it is often highly recommended. When areas of the spine are fused together or even removed, it limits the normal movement in that area. Vertebrae above and below the surgical site must work harder to take up the slack. That’s where chiropractic comes in. The compensating areas are treated and monitored to keep them working as smoothly as possible.

Why do children and infants get chiropractic care?

Just like adults, children and newborns may experience spinal trauma. Many parents have their young ones evaluated and treated by a chiropractor; some do so purely for wellness and prevention.

What is wellness chiropractic care?

Wellness care is designed for individuals who want to take control of their health. Instead of defining health based upon pain and symptoms, a wellness perspective recognizes that health is about optimal function. Just like choosing to exercise regularly, eat nutritious food, and get enough rest and sleep, periodic wellness visits help the well stay well.

Will my bones “be cracked?”

No. Our adjusting techniques do not create any popping sounds in the joints of the spine.

I’ve heard that chiropractors make you go for the rest of your life. Is this true?

This is definately not true. Many patients who chose chiropractic care for a lifetime are doing so because they have a wellness orientation and want to live their life to its fullest potential. If that is not what you are looking for, we will respect and honor your wishes. Your healthcare choices always begin and end with you.

How much will my chiropractic care cost?

We strive to give you the best service we can and that includes making considerations for your personal finances.  The primary objective of our initial visit is to determine if our care can help you.  In addition, we use our initial consultation to find out what types of testing are required to evaluate your case based on complexity and severity.  We are always happy to share with you your anticipated health investment BEFORE any charges are incurred.  We also welcome you to bring in your health insurance card to see if you have any chiropractic benefits in our office.

Do you take my insurance?

Due to the number of insurance companies and number of plans within each company, we ask that you bring a copy of your insurance card with you so that we can help determine your benefits in our office.
