As stated by WebMD, approximately 80% of the United States population will experience back pain at some point in their lifetime.  In addition, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Americans spend at least $50 billion each year on low back pain each year.  Back pain is also second only to headache as the most common neurological ailment in the United States.  Both acute back pain, lasting less than three months, or chronic back pain, lasting greater than three months, are treatable and often preventable.  Consider the following easy strategies:
  • Exercise daily to help increase blood and oxygen flow in the body
  • Eat foods that are rich in vitamins and nutrients
  • Don't eat excessive amounts of junk/fast foods
  • Avoid sitting on a wallet all day at work
  • Avoid sleeping on your stomach
  • Always wear comfortable and supportive shoes
  • Avoid slouching in a desk chair at work
Chiropractor's expertise in spinal adjustments can be beneficial in identifying structural and functional correlations to the symptoms of back pain.
